A Program for Those With Dementia and Their Caregivers

Art in the Moment is a Program for Those With Dementia and Their Caregivers

This no cost program at the Missoula Art Museum provides a comforting art-viewing and art-making experience for those in the early stages of dementia and their caregivers. Based on the Museum of Modern Art’s "Meet Me" program, Art in the Moment creates a dementia-friendly learning community and provides an opportunity for caregivers and those with dementia to be together in a creative and relaxed environment. This program provides therapeutic benefits of processing emotions and sparking associations and memories for elders experiencing memory loss.

This virtual program, pre-recorded and uploaded to YouTube, provides a comforting art-engagement experience for those in the early stages of dementia and their caregivers. Led by MAM’s education staff and Teaching Artist, Bev Beck Glueckert, participants view and discuss the artwork on display in the galleries and will give instructions and a simple supply list for creating a related original artwork.

No registration required—just tune in or watch when it is convenient for you!

This program is generously sponsored by the Montana Geriatric Education Center and Dementia Friendly Missoula.

This session will focus on the work of Sean Chandler, whose work is on display at the Missoula Art Museum through August 14. 2021.
