As we welcome 2022 at Missoula Aging Services, we’d like to share the impact of generous donations that came from the Missoula community and the difference they made during the 2021 holidays.

Thanks to some specially designated funds provided by the Washington Foundation (through United Way) and other generous donors through the MAS Giving Tree, we were able to send out gift cards to 32 older adults in need in our community on December 17th.

The recipients of these gifts all live on lower, fixed incomes. During this time of inflation and increasing rents it is extra difficult for people with limited financial means. This is especially true as the weather gets colder, and heating costs increase. Many recipients have significant health conditions resulting in additional expenses, even if they have insurance. Additionally, many of them are homebound or living with disabilities. We provided gifts throughout Missoula County, from Seeley Lake to Lolo and places in-between, with several gifts going to Veterans in Missoula and Ravalli Counties. One recipient in need wished to make a meal for her family during the holidays and expressed thanks for the gift card she received that helped her to do so.

It is with heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who donated and volunteered in 2021. We look forward to serving those in need in 2022.
