A Variety of Options to Fit Individual Needs
At Missoula Aging Services (MAS), we strive to help older adults live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Finding in-home support options can feel difficult especially when it comes to finding the types of support to make daily life easier.
The need for in-home support in our community continues to rise, but staffing shortages among home care workers have made filling those needs difficult to manage. While MAS is not immune to these challenges, we are dedicated to ensuring that in-home services are available. The changing landscape of home care has encouraged us to pursue many different options, especially for those having a difficult time managing the high costs associated with needing assistance.
At MAS, we offer a range of support in the home, based on individual needs.
- For those looking for companionship, transportation to medical appointments, or help with grocery shopping, the Caring Companion Program pairs volunteers with older adults to encourage independence and participation in the community. While there is no cost for this program, donations are welcome and appreciated.
- In-Home Support Services offers homemaking, respite, and personal care on a sliding fee scale for those 60 and older.
- For our Veterans in Missoula and Ravalli counties, the Veteran Directed Care Program helps eligible Veterans hire their own caregivers with a monthly budget provided by the Veterans Administration.
Each program has its own eligibility requirements, and Missoula Aging Services staff are happy to help find the program best suited to your individual needs.
